Naomi Campbell’s hair causes 'alarm' in Blogland...
I had to think long and hard about whether to put up these photos [because who hasn’t suffered from bad hair, or the shame of your weave blowing –only to reveal hair loss or peppercorn hair]. Well Blogland has already flooded the world-wide-web with these images [and much more] –so here goes… Personally, I feel Supermodel Naomi Campbell should be left alone, –black hair is political enough [on its own without the ‘severe hair loss’ moral panic thing] -and I should know, I’m sporting natural hair right now [and it took balls to do so –even though I now feel as-free-as-a-bird]. I too had thin hair at the front and decided that –enough’s enough and threw away the hair extensions! Please note; my being natural doesn’t mean that I will never wear a wig again –it’s just that right now -natural is me. But things are different for sista Naomi, –the business that she’s in kinds-of-demands the more [perceived] softer –more Caucasian looking hair [right now]. But what Naomi does have going for her -is her beautiful face –and thus, she can shave off all the damaged hair, start again and be free-ee-eee. The only problem I perceive -would be whether her Russian boyfriend can ‘do/have/touch/love’ that type/kind of BLACK WOMEN [if you get what I mean –God help us women of colour –its not easy ooOOO].

Get Razor-ed
Sabrina Washington [of Mis-Teeq fame] and Toni Braxton -have joined the likes of: Amelle Berrabah, Cassie, Alice Dellal, Selma Blair, Rihanna and Kelis -and taken to the razor! And surprisingly [because I'm sooooo over this craze] -they look good....x

Fashion et al Hearts Etta James

I grew up listening to the songs of Blonde hair diva, Etta James –and even now, when I hear her records I’m transported back to my childhood...I just love her style. But Etta is so great [a true Icon in every sense] -and thus, she transcends style! Big or small, friends with Beyonce or not –Etta’s music continues to stand the test of time. When you get a second –google her...xx

Hair: Nobody wants to look Africa -like this???
God Bless us -it seems we are still fighting to win. GOOD HAIR is out soon -yippee!!! But be prepared; -its all about the truth [and for those of us still in denial -about whether we let our partners /white friends touch your hair or not etc -beware oOO]!!
*I am beginning to think that the only way to do this life, -is with short Afro-hair [or dreadlocks -but I soo don't want to go there]. Because how else can one do the 'I'm-free-I-don't-have-to-worry-about-grease-breakage-my-man-touching-my-hair' fear -that soo very real for most of us? xxx
What Is Good Hair? - Tyra Banks wades in[Part One]
The debate ensues....should we; could we, -go back to our natural hair? I for one -am slowly moving in that direction -I want to be free!! And why should I be afraid to go natural? Who said that we look harder, not as attractive, less approachable with natural hair etcetc. Could this be about self hate?
God help us ...we have passed it on to the next generation!!!!!

Hair: Solange Knowles is free

Some time back there was jagger-jagger drama in Blogland. Solange Knowles had dared to cut her [own] hair -and the errrmm crew cut caused such a furore -that I refused to jump on to the bandwagon. Many claimed Solange had gone mad [Britney stylee], or was desperate for some much needed publicity [she had a new album to promote], -and that the constant comparisons with her sister Beyonce had finally gotten to her. Fast forward a couple of months and just look at Solange now -looking fierce and on trend -and in her 'truth'. God Bless her. Personally, I love her hairstyle. She looks soooo free [and how many of us can say that?]. I would love to just 'wash and go' -like my Caucasian sisters [and this hairstyle lends itself to -thus lifestyle!]. The simple truth is, -like many of you -its a dream of mine -to have a simple hairstyle that would be fine even if I were caught in the rain. And back in the day...I also cut my hair short and felt soo free -as I showered, washed, greased -and strutted. Low maintenance, chic and honest [in a way that a full head of weave will never be] -our Solange is experiencing a new level of freedom that many of us are too afraid to feel [even though we want it sooo badly] ....Go Solange ...rock on with your hot self...xx

Hair: Toni & Guy Model.Me Jamelia High Maintenance Pomade

I'm loving Toni & Guy Model.Me Jamelia High Maintenance Pomade. It is a luxurious, hydrating hair pomade, -part of a moisturising and nourishing hair range that smooths dry hair and frizz -with Serum and Blow Dry Liquid. This hard set gel like Pomade is gentle, easy to use and washes out easily. Jamelia's pomade is so effective that only a small amount is need to stop your hair from misbehaving, -keeping diva hair in check and stopping flyaway hair from -flying. I love all the products from the Toni & Guy's Model.Me Jamelia range -it comprises, Toni & Guy's Model.Me Jamelia Enriching Shampoo, High Gloss Blow Dry Liquid and Affinity Serum. Scientifically created -with the expertise and Afro hair-care knowledge of the Toni&Guy team -alongside singer and model, Jamelia, -this collection lacks only -a rich, and nourishing hair treatment (like Roots of Nature remedies' Reconstructing Deep Treatment by Softsheen Carson). With its lovely and light -coconut fragrance -this pomade will also keep your tresses smelling fresh in between washes -and leave your crowning glory healthier, sleeker, glossier and in check. £5.86 from www.boots.com
